7 Tips & Hacks To Tightline Your Eyes with Eyeliner

1. Eye Prep

A clean canvas is best for tightlining. First, wash your hands and face, then apply a pea-sized dab of primer to your lids. This will prevent liner and eye makeup from fading during the day.

2. Curl Eyelashes

Next, curl your lashes. Gently curl them to see where your lashes and lids connect. Sit in front of a well-lit mirror to find your top waterline.

3. Sharpen pencil

This eliminates pencil bacteria and gives you a fine line with minimal smudging. Hot air from a blow dryer may melt the pencil tip for easier application.

4. Brush Gels

Apply gel liner with a flat or angled brush. To make a pointed, flat top, dip the brush in the liner pot and press pigment on both sides. This helps make flat lines.

5. Tightline Top Waterline

Hold up your lid with your fingers and draw a line down your waterline using quick, fast strokes or one long stroke. Hold a gel brush vertically and gently wriggle its tip into the top waterline.

6. Define Lower Lash Line

Do the same on your bottom lash line. Pull your lower lid slightly down to see the gaps between your lower lashes. Put your liner pigment beneath your lashes.

7. Powder-set

To keep your tightlining in place all day, add powder or eyeshadow to the waterline with a flat or angled liner brush. Setting your gel liner provides long-lasting protection.
